Activities mark Earth Day at the Gary’s Douglas Center

The ninth annual Green Gary Day was held April 21 at Lake Street Beach and the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education.

A partnership with the city of Gary, the National Park Service, Department of the Interior, Indiana Dunes and the Gary Parks Department, it is one of the most anticipated local events held in honor of Earth Day, which was April 22.

The day of family fun included activities geared to children like the Junior Ranger program, live animal exhibit, woods exploration, kite flying, adopt-a-beach cleanups, art projects and more.

Peter, Willa and Aaron survived the car accident that killed their father and mother Joshua and Robin Berry on July 2, 2011 in west Texas while on their way back from a family vacation in Colorado. The accident resulted in spinal cord injuries to their two sons Peter, 9, and Aaron, 8, leaving them unable to walk, and Willa, 6, less seriously injured and recovered.

The diver of the other vehicle, Michael Scott Doyle, who caused the accident by crossing into the oncoming lane wile reaching for a DVD in his SUV, survived, along with his 1-year-old daughter. His wife, Colleen, 28, also died in the accident.

THE CULTURE has become so damaging that someone who leaves anonymous comments can drive the story! Thats what one veteran showbiz reporter says in reaction to the Internet scandal that is rumbling through Hollywood.

Its a complicated tale of an online gossip site called Crazy Days and Nights, which may or may not be entirely fake, may or may not be written by a celebrity or a real insider, but most certainly has caused some trouble.

Activities missing in run-up to Rajya Sabha election

RANCHI: The usual hectic political activities are missing in the state even four days before the Rajya Sabha elections.

Three candidates are in the fray and none of them has clear support of 27 members in the 80-member House (Hatia seat remains vacant). The three political parties who have fielded candidates have a small representation in the House but all are confident about winning the seat. The Congress has 13 MLAs while the BJP and the JMM have 18 members each.

Jack was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Wayland, the son of Anthony Sr. and Mary (Kuhn) Conrad. He grew up in the Wayland/Perkinsville area and has remained a life resident of these areas. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict Era and was honorably discharged. Jack and Jeanette Jan Hunt were married July 23, 1966 and together have celebrated over 45 years of marriage. Jack was employed by the Getinge USA, Inc. The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has proposed two separate packages to infuse additional funds — as soft loans from the World Bank (WB) — in specific pockets to help people raise their standards of living and contribute to agricultural productivity and Gross Domestic Product.

Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh has submitted two projects worth Rs. 7,500 crore to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for funding through the WB which has already evinced interest in the projects that aim at improving irrigation facilities in rain-fed areas and ensure drinking water and sanitation as a basic level service in these areas.
